Future Family Days
Designated “Future Family Days” are held throughout the school year featuring campus tours, presentations, Q & A sessions with school administrators, and personal interviews. You may also email our admissions department at email@example.com or call the school at 281-351-8223 to schedule a personal tour or to make an appointment to schedule a half-day for your child to shadow in the classroom.
If you are ready to officially begin the application process, please go to “Apply Now!” and follow the instructions for applying online as a new family through TADS (Tuition Aid Data Service.) Be certain that the school year is the appropriate one for which you are applying.
You can begin your application at any time but BEFORE ACCEPTANCE CAN BE CONSIDERED, you will need to upload/scan to TADS the following documents:
- copy of child’s birth certificate from the Bureau of Vital Statistics
- copy of the child’s current immunization records
- copies of all standardized testing, current and past progress reports, and/or a signed release from the child’s former or current school (If the child is younger than third grade, standardized testing from the public school may not be available)
- if the child has been home-schooled, a form of national standardized testing that indicates grade level performance will need to be completed.
Salem Lutheran School requires all applicants for grades one through eight to have current and/or former progress reports/report cards and standardized testing results reviewed prior to a decision for acceptance. More follow up may be necessary to further determine whether the student’s individual needs can be met and whether the student, the parents and/or guardians, and Salem Lutheran School has the potential to become a successful partnership.
Middle school students will be interviewed by the administrator. Math placement tests are given to those future students in grades seven and eight for placement in math classes. Kindergarten students attend an informal screening session prior to acceptance for enrollment. Whenever possible, new applicants will be benchmarked using current Aims Web norms and will be asked to shadow the classroom of their current grade. Every effort will be made to best determine the potential for student academic and well-rounded success.
After this information has been received and reviewed, you will be informed by email as to your acceptance to Salem Lutheran School. An effort is also made to contact you by phone. You will then be prompted by email through TADS to complete your Enrollment Agreement and pay your enrollment fee. You must complete this process to guarantee your child’s placement.
If you would like to be considered for tuition reduction, your child must be fully accepted before making application for tuition reduction online through TADS.
A pre-determined amount of funds is available for assisting families with tuition costs. Qualification is based on need as determined by TADS. The necessary information (confidential assessment application and IRS 1040) must be submitted online to TADS (Tuition Aid Data Service) by the required date. Families are notified in late spring/early summer as to the amount of tuition reduction granted. Late enrolling families may apply but funds are limited and subject to review and approval by the school commission. Enrollment Fees and Technology Usage Fees cannot be considered for tuition reduction.
